IBO Player setup guide — install and activate your IPTiger line

IBO Player is the only application IPTiger supports, and it runs on practically every platform a Canadian household owns. This guide covers installation on six device families, then the remote playlist activation that puts your channels on screen.

Before you start

IBO Player uses remote playlist activation. You do not type your credentials into the app itself — you enter your device MAC address and device key on the IBO Player portal, add the playlist there, and the app receives the data over the air. Have your IPTiger credentials to hand; if you have not ordered yet, start on the order page.

What IBO Player does well, and what it does not

Installs on almost anything

Android, Fire TV, Windows, macOS, iOS, Roku and non-Android smart TVs all have a native build, with direct download links on the developer's site.

The best option for LG and Samsung TVs

Closed-source TV operating systems block most IPTV players outright. IBO Player is one of the few that ships a proper WebOS and Tizen build, which is why it is our standard.

No recording function

The application cannot record content. If archiving broadcasts matters to you, the seven-day catch-up on supported channels is the closest equivalent.

No multi-screen

There is no picture-in-picture or split view. This aligns with IPTiger's one-device rule anyway.

Remote activation

Playlists are added through the IBO portal rather than in the app. It is an extra step the first time, and it makes changing device far easier afterwards.

It is paid

IBO Player costs roughly five euros for a year or ten euros for a lifetime licence after a short evaluation period. That fee goes to the app developer, not to IPTiger.

Installing IBO Player, device by device

Android phones, tablets and TV boxes

  1. Download the installation file from the IBO Player official website or from the download link we send with your credentials.

  2. Android will warn you that the file came from outside the Play Store. This is expected for side-loaded apps — choose Download anyway.

  3. Open the downloaded file and tap Install.

  4. Once installed, open the app. An introductory screen explains what the application does — tap OK.

  5. The dashboard loads and the app is ready for playlist activation.

Windows 10 and Windows 11

  1. Download the 64-bit Windows installer. The application requires Windows 10 or newer.

  2. Windows SmartScreen will stop the installer because it was not downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Click More info.

  3. Click Run anyway to proceed.

  4. Work through the installer: Next, then optionally tick the desktop shortcut, then Next again.

  5. Click Install, then Finish to launch IBO Player.

Amazon Fire TV Stick

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, open the search (magnifier) icon and select the search field.

  2. Search for Downloader and install it. Downloader lets you side-load applications that are not in the Amazon store.

  3. Open Downloader and allow media access when prompted.

  4. Move to the URL field and enter the official Downloader code for the IBO Player Android build: 511693. Select Go.

  5. Wait for the download to complete without touching the remote.

  6. Fire OS will block the install. Open Settings, then Install Unknown Apps. If you cannot see it, highlight About and press OK seven times to reveal Developer Options.

  7. Switch Downloader from OFF to ON, then return and complete the install with Next and OK.

  8. Open the app and dismiss the welcome message. The Fire Stick is ready.

macOS — MacBook and iMac

  1. Download the macOS build from the IBO Player download section.

  2. Open the downloaded file and drag the icon into your Applications folder.

  3. Open Launchpad and click the IBO Player icon. macOS will refuse the first launch because the app came from outside the App Store.

  4. Open the Apple menu, then System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Scroll to the security section and click Open anyway.

  5. Confirm Open anyway. The choice is permanent and later launches open directly.

LG WebOS and Samsung Tizen smart TVs

  1. Open the LG Content Store or the Samsung Apps store on your television.

  2. Select the search icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Type IBO Player. Several similarly named apps will appear — choose the one named exactly Ibo Player.

  4. Select Install, then Launch.

  5. Dismiss the first-run welcome message, then activate your playlist using the portal steps below.

Adding your IPTiger playlist

This is the step that actually puts channels on screen, and it happens on the IBO Player website rather than in the app.

  1. On the IBO Player website, open Manage Playlist from the top menu.

  2. You will be asked for a MAC address and a device key. Open the app on your streaming device, select the person icon on the dashboard, and read both values from the Device Info panel in the top-left.

  3. Enter both values on the website and log in.

  4. Choose Add XC Playlist if IPTiger sent you a host, username and password — this is the standard format we issue. Choose Add Playlist if you were sent a single long M3U streaming line instead.

  5. For an XC playlist, fill in the host (server address), your username and your password. For an M3U playlist, give the list a name and paste the playlist URL.

  6. Leave the XMLTV EPG URL field empty unless you are using a third-party guide — IBO Player will pull the IPTiger EPG from the playlist automatically.

  7. Optionally tick Protect this playlist to set a PIN, then click Save. The channels appear on your device within a minute.

Fixing the messy Live TV layout

By default the Live TV screen uses a style that lets channel names overflow behind the preview window and misaligns the programme guide. One setting fixes it.

  1. From the IBO Player dashboard, select the screen icon next to the Wi-Fi symbol.

  2. You are now in Live Screen Style. The default is Malai TV Style — switch it to Thai and save.

  3. Channel names now have room, the preview window sits correctly and the EPG lines up. Press the left arrow on your remote to bring the category column back when you need it.

Everyday tips

Favourites

Long-press OK on any channel in the list and choose Add. A heart appears next to the name, and the Favourites folder sits at the top of the category column.

Search

The search function is in the bottom-left of the Live TV overview. It matches specific terms, so a partial channel name works better than a guess at the full one.

VOD browsing

The Movies and Series sections default to newest-first. The palette icon switches between Modern and Normal themes, the arrow icon changes the sort order, and the magnifier searches.

Refreshing content

New channels and VOD titles appear after a playlist refresh. Use the refresh button along the dashboard bottom bar, or update the playlist from the M3U panel.

Settings worth knowing

Parental Control locks categories behind a PIN, Clear Cache resolves most stale-artwork issues, and Auto Boot on Start launches the app when your box powers up.
